"the Prison Service" means the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Prison Service;
"the Public Service" means, subject to the provisions of this section,
service in a civil capacity of the Government;
"the Speaker" means the person holding or acting in the office of
Speaker of the National Assembly established by section 71 of this
Constitution;
the State means the State of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,
which may be referred to as the State of St. Vincent and the
Grenadines;
the Supreme Court means the Supreme Court established by the
Supreme Court Order;
the Supreme Court Order has the meaning assigned to this
expression by paragraph (b) of subsection (3) of this section;
the Teaching Service means the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Teaching Service.
(2) In this Constitution, unless it is expressly stated otherwise,
references to an office in the public service shall not be construed as
including
(a) references to the office of President, Prime Minister or any
other Minister, Parliamentary Secretary, Minority Leader or
a member of the National Assembly;
(b) references to the offices of Speaker and Deputy Speaker;
(c) references to the office of a member of any
Commission established by this Constitution or a
member of the Public Service Board of Appeal;
